Samakanda is a beautiful, private tea estate with spectacular views, walks and wildlife only 35 mins from Galle. It has been transformed by Rory Spowers into an exquisite organic farm, as detailed in his book My Year in Green Tea and Tuk Tuks.

It is possible to visit for lunch and to enjoy the estate on a day visit. Prices start at 2000 rupees per person including lunch and refreshments.

The original Tea Planters Bungalow is available to rent. It has two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Prices start at 6000 (approx £30 or US$45) rupees per person per night, including all meals and refreshments.

It is also possible to stay at Samakanda on a longer-term basis. The Bowl Bungalow is suitable for people keen to immerse themselves into the the life of the estate for longer periods.
